What We Collect
When you create a celebration or memorial on Petmoria, we collect:
- Your name and email: So we can send you confirmation and updates about your submission
- Your pet's information: Name, photo, story, and any details you choose to share
- Location (optional): City/country for our world map feature - only if you want to share it
- Payment information: Handled entirely by Stripe - we never see or store your card details
We also automatically collect basic stuff like what browser you're using and how you found us - standard website analytics to help us improve.
How We Use It
Your information is used to:
- Display your pet's celebration on the grid (that's the whole point!)
- Process your payment securely through Stripe
- Send you a confirmation email with your receipt
- Show your pet's location on the world map (if you opted in)
- Contact you if there's ever an issue with your submission
- Make Petmoria better based on how people use the site
What We Share (and Don't)
We do NOT sell your personal information. Ever. We're not in the data business - we're in the pet celebration business.
Here's what gets shared and with whom:
- On the grid: Your pet's name, photo, and story are publicly visible (that's what you're paying for!)
- On the world map: General location only, if you provided it
- With Stripe: Payment info goes directly to them for processing
- With charity partners: We share donation totals, not your personal info
Your email stays private. We won't spam you or share your contact info with anyone.
How We Protect Your Data
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe:
- SSL encryption on all pages (that little padlock in your browser)
- Payments processed through Stripe's PCI-compliant system
- Database access limited to just us (literally two people)
- Regular backups so nothing gets lost
We're a small operation, which actually means fewer people have access to anything. It's just my wife and me running this!
Your Rights
You can always:
- See your data: Email us and we'll tell you exactly what we have
- Fix mistakes: Typo in your pet's name? Let us know and we'll correct it
- Delete your submission: Changed your mind? We can remove it (though refunds follow our refund policy)
- Update your info: New email? Just reach out
